In 2024, with the high cost of living hitting every home in Australia, why should we still prioritise buying from Australian business or buying Australian made products, or should we?

Why support an Australian Business?

We have all had the following thoughts........Should I buy the Australian product, or should I just buy the overseas one because it is cheaper?

Cheaper, yes, why is that? The overseas brand couldn't be too bad, I mean it is still made by a worker in a factory, who is working hard to make a living for their family like we all do. And that is true, but where does the rest of the money go when we buy that product?

The problem as I see it is that, is yes we could help that worker, but who else are we helping in the process. Lets think about who owns the company and where that money goes. 

So if it is imported into Australia, there is a business to think about and if that business is overseas, where does the money go. Well it doesn't stay in Australia. The majority of the money will go back to a parent company who, more than likely will have their employees, their head office, their owners and their tax dollars all going overseas.

So how does helping an Australian business help me?

So remember that school you went to, or that hospital you visited when you were sick, well how do they get paid for.

That's right, Australian tax dollars pay for them. And how does the government get this money? 

Well the majority of tax money is raised from Australian income tax and Australian business tax. 

The more Australian businesses, the more Australian workers.

So if you think about it, when you buy from that Australian business, you are directly contributing to keeping more money in Australia by employing more Australians, and by raising more business tax dollars to pay for more services in Australia.
